Bora Bora : May 9 - 19
Loved this spot, the St Regis is perfect, sorta depressed that I am back home fantasizing about the place now. First off, weather. Go there in the low rain season for great weather. We went in May-- weather was perfect. mostly sun with occasional clouds, and got to experience a brief downpour while in the ocean. They have many free bikes everywhere so you can ride all over the property. This was a super plus for me as the property is big and I like to explore. The rooms are fantastic. We took a beach side room with pool for the first 3 nights (owb was sold out) and then a delux owb the last nights. Both were great and each had their pluses. Room config was the same on the inside. The food at the hotel was better than expected because many of the chefs are trained in France. We tried the Te Pahu Restaurant our first night. I was floored by how good my dish was, even came with foam. The tuna two ways app so fresh. Also not to be missed is the Jean George restaurant which has a glass floor over a shark pool with 11 sharks. They literally swim by while you are eating. People with fear of heights should opt for a non-glass floor table. The Japanese restaurant was a nice change as well, nice ambiance. Room service food was not worth the price because the quality lacked for what we got. Plus there is a $15 delivery fee. C'est la vie. The hotel supplies free water beach/poolside, free sunscreen, free transport into town, airport boat pickup, etc. The spa is incredible, and the lagoonarium around the spa has thousands of fish. I even saw a moray ell, porcupine fish and octopus swimming around in there, but you have to look a long time. The staff were brilliant, mostly local and from France. Some of them were so polite. Thanks for a great time!!
