Michelin Map 954 is one of a series of three Michelin maps that
cover the entire continent of Africa. As the name implies, Map
954 covers Northeast Africa; from Cairo in the north, down through
the Sudan and Ethiopia, into northern Kenya. Also included on
the map is the entire Arabian Peninsula, extending into the southern
regions of Jordan, Iraq, and Iran. The map is incredibly accurate,
and one should have little trouble navigating through the countries
on the map. The map includes many of the smaller tracks into the
bush, and is remarkable comprehensive. Again, the map is inadequate
for urban areas so supplementary city maps will be required. The
legend is written in French, English, Italian, German, and Arabic.
The Arabic is useful when asking directions or showing the map
to local people. However, the text on the map itself is primarily
French and may be difficult for the local population in Arabic
nations to read. One drawback of the Michelin Maps is the lack
of road numbers printed on the map, but this did not detract from
Map 954 as there are so few roads in this region. When paired
with Michelin Map 955, it is easily possible to navigate the entire
length of Africa, from Cairo to Cape Town, using only these two
maps.
